Family

Family portrait is literally a representation of the extended family that I acquired when I got married. The family is a particular entity, since each one has its characteristics and customs. Adapting to this new environment is strange and not easy. Family portrait was the result of the process that I went through through which I internalized this change. On a metal frame hang glass breeches from all the members of my new extended family, both on my husband's side and on my side. All are cast in transparent glass so that there are no differences other than the style and size of each one and thus be able to form a unified set as the family should be accepted.

The other pieces that make up this body of work arose in response to motherhood and the value we assign to children in our environment. Children are the future, our hope, our will to live. I use parts of the body of my daughters and nieces at different times of life in order to freeze that moment in time that will never be repeated again, childhood.
